Make IWD count
at your school this year

We can’t celebrate International Women’s Day without recognising the incredible contributions
of our younger generation. All around the world, young women and girls are
standing up for their rights, and leading the way towards a
more equal, unified and resilient future for all.

You’re never too young to start making the world a more equal place for us all to live.
Here are some ways you can get involved and ensure we #CountHerIn.

How your school can get involved

Why Fundraise for
UN Women?

This IWD, we come together under the theme Count Her In.

Women’s economic empowerment and independence is central to a gender equal world. When women are given equal opportunities to learn, earn and lead – entire communities thrive.

While we have made strides towards gender equality in the last few decades, it isn't enough. At the current rate of progress, the next generation of women will still spend on average 2.3 more hours per day on unpaid care and domestic work than men.

IWD is an opportunity to use our voices to demand world leaders that women and girls are given equal opportunity.

When you support UN Women Australia by fundraising, every dollar you raise will make a real difference through funding programs and initiatives that support women’s economic empowerment and drive positive change on a global scale.

Find out more about hosting #MyIWDLunch at your school.

Will you
wear a
purple ribbon?

Purchase a box of 50 ribbons to sell at your school on Friday 8 March.

All proceeds from the sale of every purple ribbon will go towards funding programs across the globe to accelerate the progress of equality for women and girls, by ensuring they have access to education, skills training and job opportunities.

Help us get everyone you know wearing a purple ribbon with pride this IWD!

Place your order by 26 Feb to receive your order in time!
