It's time to Gather for Good
International Women's Day is a time to reflect on the progress made by women and girls worldwide and to commit to supporting the work that still needs to be done.
This March, let's come together to celebrate women and girls around the world in a way that’s simple and meaningful. Gather for Good invites you to host a gathering – whether it’s a casual picnic, yoga in the park, a spa day or board games night. Every gathering is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for a brighter future.
By hosting your own gathering and asking your fellow gatherers to make a small donation to take part, you can help set change in motion.
All funds raised will go toward funding UN Women programs dedicated to ensuring the progress of women and girls everywhere.
How it Works
Decide on what type of gathering you would like to host and register your gathering then set up your online fundraising page.
Invite friends, family and colleagues to join your gathering. From a crochet circle to a relaxing stroll through a park, make it special your own way.
Ask each guest to donate $15 (or more!) to your fundraising page to join the gathering. All donations go to supporting essential programs for women and girls, ensuring they have the opportunities they deserve.
Gather together on your chosen day in March. Wear something purple, start conversations, connect and most importantly, make sure everyone knows that together, we are making a difference.
Need some ideas?
Your Gathering can be as simple as an informal stroll around the park or you cook a four- course dinner for friends. Gather for Good is all about coming together, taking the chance to connect, raise awareness, and fundraise for a better, more equitable future.
Below are some ideas for different types of Gatherings:
Connect over food but make it casual - a picnic, backyard BBQ or sausage sizzle at your school
Host a potluck dinner at home, an office-wide bake-off or head out for drinks with the team
Get competitive with a games night at your place! Make it extra fun by getting everyone to dress up in a costume
Why Gather for Good?
Balance the Scales is a promise that every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – should be safe, heard, and free to shape her own future.
Yet today, millions of women and girls across Australia and the world are still denied that fair go. Discriminatory laws, harmful practices, and gender-based violence remains widespread, while structural barriers continue to block access to justice.
These barriers are not inevitable. They are built– and they can be dismantled. Equality is not about advantage for some; it’s about dignity, safety, and fairness for all. When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive, and society becomes safer for everyone.
This is your opportunity to be inspired, to
connect with a community committed to
action, and to play your part in ensuring justice
for every woman and girl.
This International Women’s Day, let’s Balance the Scales together.

If you are an organisation and plan to Gather for Good, consider purchasing a box of purple ribbons (50 in a box) to sell during the month of March.
All proceeds from the sale of every purple ribbon will go towards funding programs across the globe to accelerate the progress of equality for women and girls, by ensuring they have access to education, skills training and job opportunities.

Invite your friends, family and colleagues to your gathering and tell them there is a small donation of $15 (or more) you would like them to make to take part in the festivities. Don’t be afraid to ask!
